Greater job security can give Manchester accountants’ clients financial confidence

The news that people in general are currently feeling greater levels of job security could offer some much-needed financial confidence to clients of Manchester accountants as the economy and labour market continue to emerge from recession.

A nationwide survey by Legal & General, the Job Security Index, reveals the first increase in confidence levels for half a year, a sure sign that the employment market is on the up.

While the figures relate to the UK as a whole, Manchester is well represented, contributing more interviewees than other cities such as Leeds and England’s ‘second city’, Birmingham.

The headline rate of confidence in job security is up by four percentage points at 76%, while part-timers’ confidence has grown by ten percentage points since October 2013.

But only 11% of people expect 2014 to bring better opportunities for them to switch jobs, suggesting that some may be feeling trapped and unable to move into a more lucrative role.

Manchester accountants can help those who are “hunkering down”, as Legal & General’s managing director Mark Holweger puts it.

By addressing any weaknesses in your existing finances, you could find your existing role serves your monetary needs better than you realised – allowing you to put off your job hunt until the market improves further.
