Manchester property accountants will have their work cut out for them in the years to come, as the city plays its own part in record-breaking construction of affordable housing.
The Department of Communities and Local Government has outlined plans for the fastest construction of affordable housing for the past two decades.
As many as 165,000 homes will be created, in the space of just three years, with 165,000 jobs within construction itself, and benefits for a whole range of other, related British businesses.
Housing minister Kris Hopkins said: “Housebuilding is an essential part of this government’s long-term economic plan.
“That’s why we have designed an ambitious new scheme to build affordable homes at the fastest rate for 20 years.”
Manchester property accountants are likely to see an increase in transactions as the schemes roll out, with parts of Old Trafford already having benefited in recent years.
Three sites in Trafford are part of the existing affordable housing programme, with one supporting 20 local tradespeople, work placements for 16 young people, and two apprenticeships with local construction firms.
